Traditional Program support
The Farthest North Girl Scout Council is keeping the traditional program as primary for two more years. Journey Program support
The council has all three Journeys at all grade-levels in stock at the council office. However, the primary Journey on display and emphasized in trainings will be It’s Your Story – Tell It! The new Girl Guides to Girl Scouting will be available for purchase starting in October 2011. There will be limited trainings during the 2011 – 2012 Girl Scout year. The council is suggesting only experienced troop leaders use the Journey Program this school year until the council staff has developed trainings and sufficient stock to support this program.

2012 – 2013 Girl Scout Year

Traditional Program support
The council will continue to sell and train troop leaders on the Traditional Program in the 2012 – 2013 Girl Scout year, yet not emphasize this as the primary program. However, after September 2013, the traditional program will only be supported with stock on hand in our local council shop. Therefore, troop leaders will be given a choice of the traditional or new program due to the one-year timeline for support. If troops continue to use the traditional program, only the Brownie Try-Its and Junior Badges listed above will be available for purchase. Interest Project Badges will not be available.

Journey Program support
Starting with the 2012 – 2013 Girl Scout year, Farthest North Girl Scout Council will emphasize the Journey Program as primary with full training support for new and experienced troop leaders. This training will encompass the Journey, It’s Your Story Tell It!, and the Girl Guides to Girl Scouting. In this training, volunteers will be given a full two-year timeline for use of these books. The Basics-In-A-Bag kits will include the new program materials, It's Your Story Journey and the Girl Guide to Girl Scouting. The remaining two Journeys, It's Your World - Change It! and It's Your Planet - Love It!, will be available for purchase as secondary to the Story Journey and the Girl Guides that will appear in the Basics-In-A-Bag kit.
